2nd Meeting of RMRCC Lagos
Nigeria hosted the 2nd Technical Committee’s meeting of countries in the West and Central African Search and Rescue Region (RMRCC Lagos) between 18th and 22nd April 2016 at Colonades Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The Technical meeting and training workshop was organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under its Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP) in collaboration with the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF).
The IMO was represented at the meeting by Captain Dallas E. Laryea (IMO’s Anglophone Representative in Africa), while the IMRF was represented by Mr Bruce Reid (IMRF’s President). The training workshop was conducted by Captain Williams Asuako Owiredu, IMO’s consultant from Ghana.
The meeting was fruitful. After the meeting, all the nine (9) countries under the Lagos Group agreed to a Logo to be used as a symbol of the Lagos RMRCC. Also, a website was created for the RMRCC Lagos by the IMRF; this website is hosted under the IMRF’s website.
